Chat

Chat

Voxmaxa has three kinds of chat. Two of them are curated — you send a fixed phrase chosen from a list, never free text — which is what lets them work across languages: every player sees the phrase in their own language, with nothing to type, mistype, or misuse.

Hotkey chat

Press a single key to send a short, fixed phrase as a speech bubble above your character — the fastest way to communicate in the middle of the action, with no typing. These are the default keys; every one can be rebound in the Controls settings.

Menu chat

Press T to open the chat wheel: a radial menu of the same curated phrases, organized into categories — greetings, I need…, I have…, Let’s…, Go…, and More. Aim with the mouse and click a wedge to send it (or to open a category); right-click steps back, and pressing T again closes the wheel. Menu chat reaches a much larger vocabulary than the single-key bindings while keeping the cross-language, no-typing benefits of curated chat.

Sanitized chat

The third kind is sanitized chat — typed, free-text messages. Press Enter to focus the chat box, type your message, and press Enter again to send. Because it carries free text rather than a fixed phrase, it behaves differently from the curated kinds:

Because sanitized chat can carry personal details, never share personal information in it. The other two kinds of chat send only fixed phrases, so there is nothing private to leak.
